Felix Eghiazarian
felix_eghiazarianThe poetry of Felix Eghiazarian’s works is not descriptive or eloquent but mysterious and allusive. The subjects’ presence are suggested rather than figurative, but yet hold on to the solidity which characterises Armenian art.
Day to day objects are transformed from our usual way of seeing them as the painter breathes new life into them.
The artist knows that it is not enough to grasp the appearance of things and to put them together in an unexpected way, it isn‘t an ‘arrangement’. Each element infiltrates the next and transforms its structure and texture.
Felix Eghiazarian has a rhythmical logic which replaces eloquent speech: a crystallisation of images.
The artists paints the appearance of a figure in space and creates a link between the eventuality and the essence. It gives the impression of fragile matter like a trace. This trace belongs to the physical dimension of the work but also to the symbolic dimension. It seems that Felix Eghiazarian wants to discover a more secret meaning to the reality of things without totally abandoning their appearance.
Pure plastic upholds this feeling and the works have a mysterious and magical power brought about by images transposed from an unreal world. What’s more, the quality of the colour goes above and beyond any naturalistic characterisation and accentuates the psychological value of the form.
